Sun 4 Nov Australian Painted Snipe Sandy Camp Road wetland, Wynnum.
the female still present this evening + Spotless (1) and Baillon's Crakes (2)

Black Petrel, Long-tailed Jaeger Southport Pelagic
2 Black Petrels today (the first bird in was a Black Petrel), 1 imm L-T Jaeger, several Pomerine and 2 Arctic Jaegers, 3 Providence Petrels, 2 Sooty Terns, 1 ad Brown Booby, c20 Wilson's Storm Petrels and small nos. of Wedge-tailed and Short-tailed Shearwaters.

Fri 2 Nov Australian Little Bittern Sandy Camp Road Wetlands Reserve
Australian Little Bittern (1) Flew up from reeds and rested on far edge of lagoon near where paths cross close to viewing platform. Female or juvenile plumage.

Fri 2 Nov Australian Painted Snipe Lake Lenore,U.Q Gatton.
Male present midday. 5 Red-necked Avocets and 2 Red-kneed Dotterel also present on larger lake other side of road.

Australian Painted Snipe Sandy Camp Road Wetlands Reserve
Australian Painted Snipe (1) Female in same location as perviously reported on drying pools behind viewing platform. Could not locate during morning visit but had good extended views feeding along margins of pools durnig evening visit (poor quality digiscope photo taken on phone).

Australian Painted Snipe, Baillon's and Spotless Crakes Sandy Camp Road Wetlands
Female bird seen out in open at 4pm in same area as reported by Roger Jaensch. Also 1-2 Baillon's and a Spotless Crake, 5 Wandering Whistling Ducks. The Little Bittern was seen earlier in the day by other birders.

Thu 1 Nov Australian Painted Snipe Sandy Camp Road wetlands, Wynnum-Lytton
Female with pale hood, in shallows among reed stubs and wood debris in south-west corner of pond behind the viewing platform, from 5:10 pm till my departure at 5:37 pm. Motionless at times, otherwise feeding within a small area, in water covered in red Azolla.

Large-tailed Nightjar Boonooroo
A pair on banks of Little Tuan Creek. This area is at the southern end of the distributional range of this species. [Eds. Large-tailed Nightjars have been recorded from the Rainbow Beach area and the Great Sandy National Park south of Rainbow Beach Road - both are south of Boonooroo].

Buff-banded Rail (1) 1 single bird in front of sewerage pond gates pecking at the middle section of a dead Red-bellied Black Snake which had been squashed on the road.

2 at old Visitor Centre Lake, also 3 Whiskered Terns. 5 Red-necked Avocets and 5 Whiskered Terns at the Shorebird Roost.
