Young Dollarbirds have a bright yellow-green colour inside the mouth making it easier for adults to place the food accurately in a dark tree hollow.

Hi List,
My father forwarded this link to me showing a photograph of "target" like
markings on the inside of the mouth of a baby Crested Coua [a cuckoo native
to Madagascar]. Apparently these marks are unique & temporary. Do other baby
birds have marks like these?
