I've recently returned from a 12-day birding trip through western Queensland
which took me to Bollon, Bowra, Currawinya National Park, Eulo, Nindigully,
Coolmunda Lake and Durikai State Forest.
Some excellent birds were seen including Pied Honeyeater, Black Honeyeater,
Chesnut-breasted Quail-Thrush and Hall's Babbler at Bowra; 50+ Freckled
Ducks, White-browed Treecreeper and an abundance of Crimson Chats at
Currawinya; Bourke's Parrot at Eulo; Painted Honeyeater and Little Eagle
preying on Australian Raven west of Goondiwindi; and no fewer than 14
honeyeater species at Durikai, including four of the genus Melithreptus.
The region was bursting with birdlife following two consecutive years of
excellent weather conditions, with the mulga lands of south-west Queensland
a sea of wildflowers.
I've put together a series of four consecutive blog posts on the trip with
pictures here: http://sunshinecoastbirds.blogspot.com/
