Birdline Northern Territory

Published sightings for the week ending 16 Sep 2012.

Sun 9 Sep Rufous Owl Howard Springs Caravan Park
Sue and I heard two RO's calling outside our van at 10pm., we went out and one flew off but the other one stayed and gave us a show. It spread it's wings bobbed and bowed, it preened and stared at us, and finally outlasted us! We went to bed it stayed on it's perch. We tried three times to post a photo, but this feature is not working.

Thu 6 Sep White-lined Honeyeater Noarlangi Rock
Sue and I went here in the afternoon of the day before and never heard a squeek from this wonderful specie, however, next morning several birds were singing quite freely, some up in the escarpment and a couple out in the woodland. This bird was recorded at the Shelter stop. It seems as more and more scientific data comes to light the old splitters were correct and the so called smart lumpers were wrong. This bird is so obviously different to the Eungella and Bridled.
