Ruddy Turnstone
Stokes Hill Wharf, Darwin
Sue and I observed this RT along with three others, walking around the dining tables at SHW in Darwin. Just arrived back from breeding grounds or stay overs? They were in good plumage and to us, they were in a very funny/weird place.

Great-billed heron
Katherine Gorge
Flushed while canoeing from where butterfly gorge meets the river. Flew a few metres and stopped on an exposed ledge to allow us a great look before flying off low down the gorge on huge wings with slow wing beats.

Mangrove Golden Whistler
Adelaide River
Sue and I observed at least 4 pair of MGW's at this sight and noted that they spent more time (in the AM at least) in the Bamboo area than in the denser vegetation on the river bank. They called quite a lot up to 10:30am then went very quiet. Females seemed bolder than males.

Chestnut Rail
Buffalo Creek
Two birds seen at 10.20am (mid tide?).
No exposed mud on far bank.
Good views (for about a minute) of the two birds foraging a few meters across the small inlet south of the boatramp.
