Hi all. I'm back on the list after a long absence since my old email address was hacked (avoid aol. nightmare). Was quite stunned to see a buff-banded rail hop off the footpath into some bushes outside Eagle Farm racecourse at the top of busy Racecourse Rd this morning. Nearly fell off my bike. While I'm at it, a couple of visits to Kalinga Park, Clayfield, over winter yielded a Nankeen night heron, azure kingfisher and a family of four Pacific bazas along Kedron Brook that happily sat and gave me great close-range views. Nice to see such great birds in the city. Sorry for not posting earlier but I was off list.
