G'day Richard et al. Here's a picture of the two trees: http://www.flickr.com/photos/bukoba_steve/7855257908/ They are real and not 'vine-covered poles' (thanks Tom!). As I said - very common street trees in Dar es Salaam and other Tanzanian towns. No-one there could give me a name for them.
