I'd like to second Alan's response. We can't all spend the time to keep up
with advances in knowledge in different areas, nor often have the local
knowledge that is often shown in responses, so it's great to have this sort of
access. If we don't happen to be interested in the particular topic, or
sometimes know that we won't agree with a particular contributor's views, we
can just delete the email without even opening it.
I hope there continues to be "rational" debate on issues which do have some
relationship to birds and birding.
As no-one else has mentioned it, and in view of the recent posts relating to
the environment, a group of environmentally concerned organisations are working
together to try to make governments aware that individuals are concerned as
well and there is a website where photos can be upload (It is moderated and so
takes some time for them to appear.) or emails sent to MPs. It is
PlacesYouLove.org., and could be a positive way to contribute to the future.
My link came to it via BirdLife Australia, in case anyone wonders.
