While guiding recently I spotted a group of birds in a tree - Masked, Long-tailed and Gouldian finches, and Peaceful Doves. A Peaceful Dove and male Gouldian were sitting very close together, preening each other. Bruce Richardson was able to take several photos of this occurrence. I'd never seen this behaviour before among wild birds and wondered if birding-Aussers knew of any literature on inter-species preening.
