Hi everyone This afternoon, Max Breckenridge and I spent 2 hours seawatching on North Head. It was a little slow and cold (as seawatching normally is), but just before we left, we picked up a "Shy-type" Albatross. After reviewing our photos, we're not convinced that it is cauta, and we're tentitively saying Salvin's, based on the "messy" front wingpatch (which seems to not appear in juvenile cauta), and the overall colour... Neither of us are experts of course, so we would appreciate any explanations as to why this is/is not a Salvin's Albatross. Some of the better photos are on our blog, and I have more if they are wanted. http://fortheloveof-birds.blogspot.com.au/2012/08/north-head-seawatching-trial.html Cheers, Joshua Bergmark =============================== To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) to: http://birding-aus.org =============================== |
