I guess this doesn't help in your situation but there are two newer bird field
guides:
Birds of Borneo: Brunei, Sabah, Sarawak, and Kalimantan (2009) by Susan Myers
andPhillipps' Field Guide to the Birds of Borneo: Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei and
Kalimantan (2011, 2nd ed.) by Karen Phillipps and Quentin Phillipps
(the latter is the fully revised edition of the one you are looking for)
