The following is a digest of Sightings Reported on Birdpedia for the period
Monday, June 25, 2012 to Sunday, July 1, 2012:
Area: SA
Date: Sunday, June 24, 2012
Location: Perry Barr Road, Hallett Cove (SA)
Wedge-tailed Eagle (Aquila audax) (2) Two (2) birds observed circling the
fields immediately north of Perry Barr Road and above the quarry at Marino.
They were being harassed by a pair of resident Black-shouldered Kite and a pair
of Nankeen Kestrels.
One appeared to be carrying a food item but they were too distant to make it
out. Both birds then landed on the ground directly above the quarry where they
remained until I left.
Initially observed the pair of birds on the 18/06/2012 at the same location.

Date: Thursday, June 28, 2012
Location: Milang
Cattle Egret (Bubulcus ibis) (19) 19 Cattle Egret feeding and loafing in the
Milang Snipe Reserve.
Black-winged Stilt (Himantopus himantopus) (10) 10 birds in the Snipe Reserve.
Very active with a lot of noisy bickering and chasing around.
Visit by Bob and Maureen Snell. Due to lethargy induced by prolonged medical
treatment any bird beyond binocular range had to remain a UFO (hadn't got the
energy to put up spotting scope) we still recorded 39 species - see list under
General Field Trips. Terns, Cape Barren Geese and Australian Shelduck were
conspicuously absent. Four species of birds of prey were seen.
The stretch of shoreline along Lake Alexandrina from Boggy Lake, just North of
Tolderol, to Point Sturt and Clayton Bay, not forgetting the Nurragi
Conservation Reserve at Milang, provides excellent birdwatching. Extend this to
the 19th Beacon via Dunn's Lagoon, Black Swamp and the Goolwa Ponds and you
have something approaching birdwatcher's heaven.
