Scarlet Chested Parrot
app 100km south of Alice Springs, Stuart Highway
Roadside perched in dead tree-highly noticeable with sunshining on it and striking colour.
Perfect conditions after rainy night saw many other species out in the morning as it was warming up: the usual stacks of budgies, zebra finches anywhere you care to stop, spiny cheeked honeyeaters, crested bellbirds, hooded robins, fairywrens (but not much colour ATM), abundant black-faced woodswallows, a couple Major Mitchells and closer to Alice a couple Dozen Mulga Parrots

Grey Falcon & many other (12) raptors
app 50km south of Alice Springs on Stuart Highway
The Desert is alive with Raptors! Grey Falcon Perched in Mulga tree near road, chased off a brown falcon for a while then parted, heading south. Many other bonuses on way to Yulara and back included Black breasted buzzards, Spotted Harrier, Hobby, Little eagle, Black Falcon. Usually no more than 5 minutes without seeing a raptor over 7 hours (both ways) is raptor bliss for sure!
