For birding Indonesia check out Burung-Nusantara.

http://burung-nusantara.org/

No field guide covers both islands fully.
Bali is in the Greater Sundas so covered by MacKinnon & Phillipos 1993, which
is out of print.
Sumbawa is covered by Coates and Bishop 1997.
There are some photographic guides to Indonesia, like Strange (2001) but they
are incomplete

Coates, B.J & Bishop, K.D. (1997), A Guide to the Birds of Wallacea, Dove
Publications, Alderly, Qld.
MacKinnon. J. & Phillipps, K. (1993), A Field Guide to the Birds of Borneo,
Sumatra, Java and Bali, Oxford University Press, Oxford.
Strange, M. 2001. A Photographic Guide to the Birds of Indonesia. Periplus
Editions.

Subject: Biding Bali and Sumbawa

Hi all,

For the first time I am squeezing some birding into an Indonesian surf trip. I
plan on spending a few days in Bali barat national park and the higher forest
around Ubud. I will be only be travelling to Bali, Sumbawa and Nusa lonbongian
does anybody have hot tips on must see locations???

Also I am been looking at field guides to the region but can not decide on one,
does anyone recommend a particular guide???

Thanks

Brendan
