Sun 8 Jan Brush Cuckoo; Azure Kingfisher Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve
Two Brush Cuckoos seen & heard calling in the 'Eucalypt Forest'. Azure Kingfisher seen again today in Sanctuary

Buff-banded Rail Fyshwick Sewage Treatment Plant
A adult Buff-banded Rail well out in open, jumping with raised wings and running around, apparently catching flies. On two occasions, it ran and flew towards Black-fronted Dotterel to chase them away. Another rail was over the other side of the road on the pond near the car auction yard.

Sat 7 Jan Azure Kingfisher Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve
A single bird was observed flying across water near boardwalk in the Sanctuary enclosure at 1330. It was heard calling a few minutes later but not observed again.

Fri 6 Jan Baillon's Crake, Australian Spotted Crake Fyshwick Sewage Treatment Plant
Two Baillon's Crake & a single Australian Spotted Crake observed late this afternoon foraging in reed beds

Plumed Whistling-Duck 32, 2 Pink-eared Duck and 2 Intermediate Egret.

Plumed Whistling-Duck, Whistling Kite, Baillon's Crake Kellys Swamp
32 Plumed Whistling-Ducks at the southern end of the swamp. Also a rather tatty Whistling Kite heading for Lake Burley Griffin, first I have seen here for a long time, and a Baillon's Crake.

A single bird was present on the pond near the intersection of Mapleton Avenue and Megalong Crescent, Harrison at 18:30.

Musk Duck Yerrabi Pond, Gungahlin
A male and female Musk Duck were observed together about half way along the northern side of Yerrabi Pond at 18:00. At the same time, another male Musk Duck was present in the southwest corner.

2 Rainbow Lorikeets were observed flying over the University of Canberra from College Street at 16:35.

White-throated Needletail Holt
15:45 hours today from our front porch in Holt we glimpsed about 12 White-throated Needletails flashing across a patch of blue in a plumbeous sky, some distance to the sou’ sou’ east. At the time it was overcast and sultry at home but no thunder or rain.

An immature male Brown Songlark was observed on the entrance gate to Mullangarri Nature Reserve alongside Gungahlin Drive at 14:15.

Pied Cormorant (1) Flying over the Poo Ponds, heading towards the turf farms.

Sat 31 Dec Pied Cormorant, White-bellied Sea Eagle, Spotless Crake Jerrabomberra wetlands
Seen from kayak - roosting at the entrance to Jerrabomberra Creek were a number of Darters, and Cormorants, including one Pied Cormorant, possibly two. A little further upstream I found the Sea Eagle, a juvenile, possibly second year from the Simpson & Day illustration. 2 Spotless Crakes.
