It is/was an online recording system for your sightings. As such it
competed with any other similar systems of which the best known in
Australia is probably Eremaea. This is an area where personally I feel that
the fewer the number of systems the better as it helps when researching
sightings of a species if you only have to look at one or two databases
compared to 20 or 30! Of course this is not to deny that competition
hopefully brings improvements in the services offered.
