Sun 18 Dec Rufous Fantail Daintree Crescent Kaleen
I had a Rufous Fantail calling and foraging for an hour in the exotic bushes (Photinia and Loquat) in my garden this morning, a first for here.

Sat 17 Dec Channel-billed Cuckoo Canberra North Bowling Club
At about 11 this morning a single bird flew over the Canberra North Bowling Club McCaughey Street travelling in a south easterly direction. It was not calling but unmistakeable in size colour and flight. Later in the day two peaceful doves were observed on the telegraph wires outside clubhouse.

At least one, possibly two, juvenile Swift Parrots and 4 possibly five Little Lorikeets observed this morning.

one in our garden this morning, first since March 2007, and a rather strange time of year to see one in the city

Thu 15 Dec Tawny Frogmouth O’Connor Ridge
Delighted this morning to find that the the 2 adult Tawnies had returned to their normal spot on O’Connor Ridge and even better they had brought their 2 babies with them. This might explain why we had not seen them in their customary spot for some time now.

1 Royal Spoonbill (in the small willow where the species has previously bred ) and 1 Yellow-billed Spoonbill

Brush Cuckoo (2) heard in the vicinity of Billy Billy Ck which is crossed by Corin Road. Numerous Fan-tailed and Shining-Bronze Cuckoos also observed.

3 adult White-necked Herons flew high overhead at 09:30 this morning. They continued northeastwards up the Majura Valley.

A single bird seen & flushed from long grass around the southern end of the swamp

A juvenile bird was flushed twice from long grass between the ponds

Sun 11 Dec Latham's Snipe Uriarra Station Dam
Single Latham's Snipe flew into the grass on the road side of the dam.

Thu 8 Dec Buff-banded Rail Tuggeranong
At the little marshy pond behind the dog training area on Rowland Rees Crescent, near the Tuggeranong Town Centre. The rail was in full view for about 15 minutes. It spent most of the time preening, walked out onto the pond once and lifted its wings then went back. Also 1 Baillon's Crake.

Tue 6 Dec Lewin's Honeyeater Majura Firing Range, subsite 3 in the South of the Range
two observed in Yellow-Box grassy woodland. Eucalypts flowering profusely.
