Hi Geoff, I agree with Greg regarding eyebrow ridge, tail shape (of the adult) and the relatively powerful legs/feet in both the adult and the juv. In addition, the juv also shows a rather large squarish head and a strong bill, which again indicates Brown Goshawk. Cheers, Nikolas ---------------- Nikolas Haass Sydney, NSW ________________________________ From: Greg & Val Clancy <> To: Geoff Hutchinson <>; Cc: Judy Harrington <>; Stephen Debus <> Sent: Tuesday, December 6, 2011 7:36 AM Subject: Help with ID - Sparrowhawk or Brown Goshawk Hi Jeff, The eyebrow ridge, the long tail and the solid legs are typical of Brown Goshawk. The tail is in moult and therefore shows a somewhat squared appearance but is still too rounded for a Sparrowhawk. Greg Dr Greg. P. Clancy Ecologist and Wildlife Guide Coutts Crossing NSW |
