Birdline Northern Territory

Published sightings for the week ending 27 Nov 2011.

Tue 22 Nov Greater Sand Plovers, Whimbrels Nightcliff foreshore
A wide range of waders on display including Ruddy Turnstones, Pacific Golden Plovers, Common Sandpipers, Terek Sandpipers, a Beach Stone Curlew, two Striated Heron, a Common Greenshank, Rednecked Stints and Wandering Tattlers. Greater Sand Plovers were misidentified as Oriental Plovers in my last report.
James Dickson

White-winged Black Tern Alice Springs Airport
2 birds dead on runway, photographed by safety patrol. The last couple of days have been very drizzly in Alice Springs so perhaps the birds had mistaken the wet tarmac for open water?
Chris Watson

Black-breasted Buzzard Hatt Rd, Alice Springs
Single bird seen in low overhead flight at 9.00am.Conditions were overcast and drizzling rain.White wing "windows" clearly apparent.
Shane Green
