Re Woodswallows. We, The Common Loudmouths, competed in the 8 hour Twitchathon on Sunday and only managed to spot Dusky Woodswallows! We do not travel as far north as the 24 hour teams, but always manage at least White-browed & Masked. Despite these unexpected dips (& several others!), there seemed to be lots of birds around. After several years' absence, White-necked Herons were widely spread and crakes & rails also seem to be enjoying a great season. And such large numbers of Banded Stilts at WTP - great! Congratulations to the Norwegian Blues - we were pleased with 145, but 149 is an impressive 8 hour effort! Philip Jackson |
