Hi Folks,
We were interested in Phil's comments about fruit-doves not calling much
as our Superb Fruit-Doves have been calling for at least six weeks but
as is usual difficult to see, we did see two males together this week.
Our Noisy Pitta returned this week after being absent since mid-May with
at least four heard calling today and two seen. If you want to see and
read more check out our blog,

I have been back home at Black Mountain Road, Kuranda , Queensland
since Oct 24 and oddly for the time of year have heard almost no calls
from either Superb or Rose-crowned Fruit Doves. Today we had the big
Sunbird/Wings group visiting, again with virtually no calls from the
Ptilinopus doves, but during lunch from our veranda we picked up a
Rose-crowned Fruit Dove feeding in the myrtle which has just come into
fruit. This was swiftly followed by 2 male Superb Fruit Doves and 2
Wompoos, a very neat veranda trifecta. Yesterday we had a White-headed
Pigeon feeding there so clearly the word is out.
Probable sighting of a Swinhoe's Snipe at Hastie's Swamp also, this
from Terry Reis from Cairns, so if you are up there do check out the
snipe.
