I have been back home at Black Mountain Road, Kuranda , Queensland since Oct 24 and oddly for the time of year have heard almost no calls from either Superb or Rose-crowned Fruit Doves. Today we had the big Sunbird/Wings group visiting, again with virtually no calls from the Ptilinopus doves, but during lunch from our veranda we picked up a Rose-crowned Fruit Dove feeding in the myrtle which has just come into fruit. This was swiftly followed by 2 male Superb Fruit Doves and 2 Wompoos, a very neat veranda trifecta. Yesterday we had a White-headed Pigeon feeding there so clearly the word is out.

Probable sighting of a Swinhoe's Snipe at Hastie's Swamp also, this from Terry Reis from Cairns, so if you are up there do check out the snipe.
