Sun 23 Oct	Noisy Pittas (2), Regent Bowerbirds (15) Ourimbah-Palmdale (approx. 70km north of Sydney CBD) We had a good morning at Ourimbah this morning where one loquat tree was attracting at least 15 Regent Bowerbirds (including 3 adult males), at least 6 Green Catbirds and a few Satin Bowerbirds (the Regents did out number the Satins!). We also had 3 Leaden Flycatchers, Dollarbirds and Sacred Kingfishers nearby. Also on another private property, we had 2 Noisy Pittas (photographed one) and also had Brush Cuckoo, Rose Robin etc. Edwin Vella and Tony Dawe
	Mottled Petrel, Cook's Petrel, White-chinned Petrel Eden Pelagic Sunday had very similar highlights to the first Eden pelagic on Saturday for COG members: 5 Mottled Petrel 1 Cook's Petrel 1 White-chinned Petrel Alastair Smith
	Brush Bronzewing Deep Creek Reserve, Narrabeen Brush Bronzewing (1) male, running along path just over metal footbridge on other side of creek from oval Natalie Wood
	Banded Lapwing Windsor Turf Farms A count of 35 Banded Lapwings was achieved from a single field opposite a large wooden gate 'Cornwells Gate 1', at the turf farms around midday. Rufous Songlarks everywhere! Rainbow Bee Eater and Hobby also. Max Breckenridge and Joshua Bergmark
	White-winged Triller, White-browed Woodswallow Scheyville NP A single male triller was seen, calling, in a tree beside the gate into Scheyville on the Pitt Town-Dural Rd entrance. Further into the bush, large numbers of White-browed Woodswallow were observed feeding in trees and also flying above, numbers were easily +100. A single Painted Button-Quail was seen well after being heard along with 2 Crested Shrike-tit, Jacky Winter, Little Lorikeet and White-bellied Cuckoo Shrike. Max Breckenridge and Joshua Bergmark
	Glossy Ibis, Red-kneed Dotterel Pitt Town Bottoms At a small wetland on the south side of the Pitt Town Bottoms Rd, a trio of Glossy Ibis were observed feeding. A single Red-kneed Dotterel was seen nearby, as was an Intermediate Egret and a single Royal Spoonbill. Nearby Pitt Town Lagoon is flooded with the best bird seen there being a single Latham's Snipe. 	White-browed Woodswallows Wilberforce flock of 70+ WBWS passing over Wilberforce odd ones settled in trees. keith brandwood
	Red Necked Avocet, Hardhead Waterbird Refuge, Bicentennial Park, Homebush 11 Avocets on the waterbird refuge this morning. Also a Fan Tailed Cuckoo calling (couldn't find it) and a Sacred Kingfisher. Triangle Pond is still very full, but held 1 Hardhead amongst plenty of Teal. Mason Park almost completely dry, but 30+ Sharp Tailed Sandpipers here, plus 1 Royal Spoonbill, 1 Great Egret. Tom Wilson
Sat 22 Oct	Mottled Petrel, Cook's Petrel, White-chinned Petrel Eden Pelagic Highlights of day one of a weekend of pelagics at Eden by COG members: 3 Mottled Petrel 1 Cook's Petrel 1 White-chinned Petrel Alastair Smith
	Bar-tailed Godwit Goran Lake, Spring Ridge, 30 km south of Gunnedah About 10-15 Bar-tailed Godwits, all still in non-breeding plumage, were spotted at Goran Lake, an ephemeral lake about 30 km south of Gunnedah. This species had not been sighted at this location on several earlier visits. Michael Dahlem & R. Druce
	Glossy Ibis 12 klms South of Jerilderie on the Jerilderie-Finley Rd Peter Merritt observed 100 plus Glossy Ibis at the 12k signpost south of Jerilderie either side of the road in the Rice Paddocks Geoff Jones on behalf of Peter Merritt

	Black Bittern Couts Crossing Maraylya one Black Bittern calling in the dawn chourus together with a pair of Powewrful Owls. CBOC Keith Brandwood
	Little Curlew Goran Lake, Spring Ridge, 30 km south of Gunnedah One single bird spotted on the shore of Goran Lake, an ephemeral lake 30 km south of Gunnedah, NSW. Identified both visually (see photo) and by call. This species was not seen at this location on several previous visits. Michael Dahlem & R. Druce
	Painted snipe Koona Bay, Albion Park Rail The painted snipe are still at Koona Bay, Albion Park Rail, found in samphire just 200m along the shoreline on 1st access between houses after turning left from crossing the rail line behind the shops. AM seen in open and flushed to other side of the bay, another seen briefly disappearing into the samphire. Bruce Roubin and Ken Glimour
	Sharp-tailed Sandpiper Queanbeyan NSW Block 12 Sharp-tailed Sandpipers at well vegetated, but now shallow roadside dam on Captain's Flat Road, approx 18 kms from King's Highway. Late afternoon Kim and Geoff Larmour

Fri 21 Oct	Pacific Baza Bellawongarah A Baza was seen soaring and heard calling, at 10am over our property. A fine warm morning. Carla Jackett
	Black-faced monarch, golden whistler Ourimbah RTA reserve 2-3 black-faced monarchs using the pond to cool off, to the right of the track as you get close to the open grassed area. Golden whistler calling loudly as usual. Gavin Scott
Thu 20 Oct	White-browed Woodswallow East Killara A flock of over 100 White-browed Woodswallows, possibly in company of Masked Woodswallow, calling loudly as they flew over East Killara in a North-westerly direction at 2:00pm. Kurtis Lindsay and Alana May
	Baillon's crake, 2 Great Crested Grebes Eastlakes Golfcourse From 7.30-9.30 am: The 2 great crested grebes are still there. Baillon's crake, 3 Latham's snipes, 2 great cormorants, horsfiled bronze cuckoo, yellow thornbill, spotted pardalote, little grass bird, reed warblers, 4 red-rumped parrots. Good numbers of grey teal and hardhead. Nesting moorhen and Oz grebe. And plenty more in this eastern suburbs oasis. Bas Hensen
Wed 19 Oct	Black-tailed Godwit, Sharp-tailed Sandpipers, Latham's Snipe Lismore Lake which is adjacent to the Bruxner Highway on the southern edge of town. Single Godwit foraging on edge of mudflats. Uncommon in the Richmond Valley. Also present at least 8 Sharp-tailed Sandpipers and 6 Latham's Snipe. David Charley
	Rufous Scrub-bird Gloucester Tops I had great views of an immature male bird standing up on a log, with its head thrown back in classic pose and calling loudly and energetically. Prior to that, I had watched the bird moving through the undergrowth, calling and feeding. Alan Stuart
	Black Faced Monarch Lady Carrington Drive, Royal National Park, Sydney One bird sighted in the area around the first creek crossing on the Lady Carrington Drive walk starting from Audley. Greg Smith
	Regent bowerbird Ourimbah Lucky enough to get a decent shot of the regent bowerbird feeding in loquat tree, 1 male 3 females 10 green catbirds, 1 male 6 female satin bowerbirds Tony Dawe
	Noisy pitta Ourimbah Heard one bird calling keeow call then saw two birds in leaf litter.One sat in the open enough time to take photos. Tony Dawe
	Spotless Crake, Black-tailed Native-hen McPherson Rd Swamp, cnr McPherson & Gavenlock Rds Tuggerah A further Spotless Crake was seen at the edge of the access track below the houses, that follows alongside the swamp. The Black-tailed Native-hen could not be seen from ground level, but could be seen towards the back of the swamp (closer to McPherson Rd), from the vacant block of land in the Mardi Housing Estate at the end of Narrabeen Close, which gives one a good view over the wetland. 8 Tawny Grassbirds and 6 Cisticolas were seen, and yesterday, 2 Chestnut-breasted Mannikins were present. The access to this wetland is in Gavenlock Rd Tuggerah Alan Morris
	White-throated Needletails and Noisy Pitta Sherwood Mid North Coast. About 6 WTNT seen very high up at 8.45 this morning 10km west of Kempsey (Sherwood). While we were watching them we saw our first Rufous Fantail for the year. This week we have finally seen the Noisy Pitta that has been calling for the last two months. 	Black-tailed Native-hen McPherson Rd Swamp, off Gavenlock Rd Tuggerah One bird observed in the central portion of the wetland. This is the first record for the Central Coast Deryk Engel
	Australian Spotted Crake, Spotless Crake West Byron Sewage Treatment Plant Australian Spotted Crake (2) possibly 3, all in muddy area in front of info centre. The many Moorhens scare them back into the reeds Spotless Crake (1) same muddy area as the A.Spotted Crakes. Spotless Crakes seemed indifferent to the moorhens in very close proximity. photos available if required, not yet sorted. Kathy & Peter Wilk
	Painted Snipe & Latham's Snipe Koona Bay Albion Park Rail Sunday our Friend Barbara a fellow member of Illawarra Bird Observers Club called to tell us about a Latham's Snipe they had just seen which was very unusal and one I was after to Potograph, went over next day and flushed 15, no decent Pics so went over with a few friends the next day and flushed a lot of Snipes, and 5 Painted Snipe running through the marsh 4 Adults and a Juvenile VERY EXCITING. Mon 17 Oct	Square-tailed Kite Dolphin Point . Burrill Lake. A single S-T Kite was flying low,quartering the scrub on the south end of Dolphin Point, at the entrance to Burrill Lake . First seen by me this season. There is also a single Sanderling in tow with 2 B T Godwits on the sand bars there at the entrance. bob rusk
	Glossy Black Cockatoo Jerusalem Bay Track, Cowan A pair of Glossy Black Cockatoos the highlight of an afternoon walk that turned up a nice range of bush birds including Wonga Pigeon (calls), Black-faced Monarchs, Leaden Flycatcher, Shining Bronze Cuckoo and Large-billed Scrubwren. Also a Brush-Turkey wandering nonchalantly next to the railway line between Pymble and Turramurra. Robert Griffin

	Painted Button Quail Mulgoa 11am: Female Painted Button-quail (red eye) flew into our house window killing itself. Property is 33 acres and other sightings of Painted Button-quail are frequently made. Peter Harvey
	Turquoise Parrot Lane Cove NP 1 female Turquoise Parrot Devlins Creek track North Epping near NW end of Boundary Rd (Moderator: escapee?). Chris Charles
	Buff-banded Rail, Topknot Pigeon, Australian Hobby, Musk Duck Pioneer Dairy Wetlands, Tuggerah During heavy overcast conditions following rain, an Australian Hobby was watched trying to catch Fairy Martins without success, 2 Buff-banded Rails were feeding along Pioneer Creek, a female Musk Duck was on the Dairy Swamp, 2 Top-knot Pigeons were seen to fly into some Moreton Bay Figs along with 2 Channel-billed Cuckoos. White-breasted Woodswallows, Swamp Harrier, Torresian Crows, Sacred Kingfisher & Tawny Grassbirds also seen. Access to Pioneer Dairy Wetlands is only available through prior arrangements with the Trust. No Black-necked Storks but one was seen at Wamberal Lagoon on 10/10/11 and no Rufous Songlarks, the single bird present 8-10/10/11 could not be found. Alan Morris & Jay Nicholson
	Spotless Crake, Tawny Grassbird, Black-shouldered Kite McPherson Rd Swamp, off Gavenlock Rd Tuggerah A single Spotless Crake was seen in a drain in the McPherson Rd Swamp at about 830 am on a dull drizzling morning. There are no previous records of any crakes at this site. Other birds of interest were several Tawny Grassbirds, a flock of 8 Topknot Pigeons and a Black-shouldered Kite Alan Morris & Jay Nicholson
	White-browed Woodswallows Kurri Kurri Over 300 White-browed Woodswallows hawking over woodland around Kurri, many settling and some taking nectar from Forest Red Gums. Steve Roderick
Sun 16 Oct	Leaden Flycatcher Picnic Point near Deniliquin. 1 male observed in the caravan park at picnic point. Greg McKay

Sat 15 Oct	White-Throated Nightjar Capertee Valley White-throated Nightjar head calling at Glen Davis. Kathy Walter and John Goldie
	White-bellied Cuckoo Shrikes, Painted Button-quails Scheyville NP (about 55 km NW of Sydney CBD) Last Saturday we saw 2 dark-phase White-bellied Cuckoo-shrikes (see attached photo) and saw one and heard another Painted Button-quail within the first few hundred metres of the entrance off Pitt Town Dural Rd (a few km east of Whitmore Rd). This is usually a regular and reliable location to see both species. About 3 Jacky Winters, Varied Sitellas, Dusky Wooswallows. Peaceful and Bar-shouldered Doves, Rufous Fantail, Restless and Leaden Flycatchers also present during the short stay. Edwin Vella and Tony Dawe
	Black-faced Monarch Waratah Gully, Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park One Black-faced Monarch heard calling in gallery rainforest below the track near the western end of Waratah Bay. Also at least five Leaden Flycatchers in woodland a few hundred metres east of Berowra Station. Paul Burcher
Thu 13 Oct	Painted Snipe, Wandering Whistling Duck, Crakes Gwydir Wetlands, near Moree Bird Surveys on private wetlands for NSW OEH. We saw a group of 12 Painted Snipe plus Wandering Whistling Ducks, various Crakes (mostly Baillons) plus great views of Brolgas, Magpie Geese and Latham's Snipe. Tim Hosking and others
