Hi all, During a recent trip to Round Hill and Nombinnie NR i saw a splendid fairy wren do something really interesting. As i walked through the mallee scrub a male flew across in front of me from one tree to another. The flight he took was as if he was displaying to me or to females. He flew with a very upright posture (imagine a hummingbird hovering at a flower) , and dipped up and down in the air as he flew in a straight line. To me it looked like he was showing off to females around, an act of bravery almost. It struck me as unusual because most birds quickly find cover when approached, but this male exposed himself out in the open for much longer than necessary. Any thoughts? Cheers, Gavin Scott =============================== To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) to: http://birding-aus.org =============================== |
