Hi
While staying at Stirling Range National Park last week I met Margaret
Cox from Victoria who asked me about Orange Bellied and Elegant
Parrots. She showed me several photographs of a parrot which she had
photographed in the Porongurup Ranges (just north of Albany W.A.) She
identified it as an Orange Bellied Parrot which would put it well
outside its normal range. The field guides suggest that the local
Elegant Parrots often have a faint orange belly though I can't say that
I have noticed one and all the Elegant Parrots I saw over the next few
days didn't appear to have one either.
Photographs of the parrot can be seen at

Can anyone positively identify it. I would appreciate any help and I
will let Margaret know the conclusion.
Cheers
Andrew
