Saw my first Dollarbird of the season at Cattana Wetlands, Cairns, on Saturday.

Toothbill Bowerbirds have started all at once over the last five days. Riflebirds are in full swing and females are showing interest. A friend has witnessed a mating but I am yet to see one this year. Golden Bowerbirds still not very active but spending more time around the bower. HINT: They often sit very quietly at a distance of 10 to 20 metres from their bower and can sneak in without being observed so keep scanning. Of course it helps if one knows where they usually perch.

Photographed a family of cranes on Sunday where the parents were of each species.
Regards,
Alan
