Hi All,
Following the excitement of the Barn Owl of a couple of weeks ago, this
morning's drive to work started as usual ..... swan, Great Egret, Royal
Spoonbill, coot, feral pigs, STD's, etc. But I couldn't believe my eyes and
hurriedly turned left in to Park Sq off Beacon St in Beacon Cove (Melbourne)
when I saw a Buff-banded Rail pottering around the front lawn of the house
on the northern corner. It disappeared into garden plantings when
pedestrians wandered past. This is another first for the transit list, and
not really where I would have expected to see one. The bay was so still and
flat that a seaplane was out practicing landings off Middle Park Beach, yet
another first sighting for my drive to work.
Cheers,
Joy Tansey
