Spotless Crake, Horsfield's Bronze-Cuckoo
Thompson Beach
Spotless Crake (5) One bird seen for 2-3 seconds as it flushed. Smaller than Australian Crake and plain & sooty in appearance. Flew with legs trailing and dived into deep shrubby glasswort cover. Other birds in immediate vicinity responded with single note 'squeaks' not unlike a dog chew toy when I attempted to pish birds into showing themselves. See list notes.
Horsfield's Bronze-Cuckoo (1) Lone bird calling for extended period, seen on dune area between northern trail and eastern claypan (Crake area) great view!
