Wedgetailed Eagle
Tasmania
Male Wedgie, sitting on ground just inside a fenced paddock on a busy roadside (Claude Road, NW). No visible carrion or other food, I drove back 10 minutes later and he was still there. Thought he must have been injured so got out car to check, he took off immediately & to my horror flew straight between the overhead powerlines, but emerged unscathed. His mate was sitting in a tree 200 metres away and they both flew away being mobbed by plovers & magpies
