After several delays, we finally had our inaugural pelagic off the Sunshine Coast yesterday. We had a successful day, with the highlights being Buller's Albatross (2) and a trifecta of storm-petrels - White-bellied Storm-Petrel (2), Black-bellied Storm-Petrel (1) and Wilson's (2), but no sign of the New Zealand Storm-Petrel seen off Southport. Plenty of Providence Petrels were about. Conditions were ideal, with a gentle swell and a nippy south-westerly. A plus for the trip was that with our 10m catamaran, the Cat-A-Pult, it took just 1.5 hours to reach the continental shelf. For more, see here: http://sunshinecoast.birds.wildiaries.com/trips/10668.
