I have found RWB's several times at South Head - a short bus ride from the
CBD. On the walk past the gun emplacement and on the left of the path about
50m shy of the toilet block. Apart from the above mentioned TB this is one
of the great scenic short walks in Sydney and quite a few bush birds, sea
birds and on Monday a pod of 4 Hump back whales in the harbour. If you
don't find the Bulbuls you can always walk back to Nielsen Park and search
for *Allocasuarina portuensis. *Possibly the rarest native plant in Oz*.
A. portuensis* (Nielsen Park She-Oak*) *was originally identified in 1986
from ten specimens at Nielsen Park in the city's eastern suburbs. Those
original plants have now died. However, efforts to propagate and reintroduce
the species began from the time it was identified, and plants were planted
at several locations around Nielsen Park.
If you don't find either it's back to Watsons Bay and F&C's on the beach.
