Last few times I've been to Darwin the deal has been 200km per day for free
but you pay so much per km above that distance. This was with Budget and
Avis. This worked Ok just around the local birding spots but got a bit
costly when we drove down to Pine Creek and Katherine. Unlike Brisbane and
Cairns where the kms are often unlimited, just as they are in Perth. Maybe
you should go to Cairns instead ?? Watch out for 4x4s, they are generally
very expensive per day, like as much as $160 , whereas a small car like a
Getz can be as low as $46 per day. Good luck.

Hi

Hoping to get to Darwin in August. It seems that all hire cars come with
'pay by the kilometer' conditions.

Does anyone know of any hire companies that have unlimited mileage in
NT?

I don't believe we'll need a 4WD but am happy to be advised otherwise if
someone knows better...generally intending to do the immediate area
around Darwin and Kakadu, probably Katherine Gorge too, for 10 days or
thereabouts...

Thanks in advance,

Colin
