Hello All,
Spent a couple of hours this morning birding the entrance road to Gold Creek
Reservoir, west of Brisbane.
It was a productive morning, and I eventually found a couple of White-eared
Monarchs, the specialty at this site. I also saw a pair of Spectacled Monarchs
and there were several Black-faced Monarchs around as well for the trifecta.
Next best bird was a lone Yellow-eyed Cuckoo-Shrike, as well as Cicadabird and
Varied Triller, while a Shining Bronze-Cuckoo was heard calling initially and
finally seen. Amongst other more common birds recorded were Spangled Drongos,
Pied Currawong, Noisy Friarbird, Fan-tailed Cuckoo, Spotted Pardalote, Bell
Miner and an Azure Kingfisher along one of the creeklines. An enjoyable start
to the day.
Cheers and good birding!
