Sun 20 Feb Superb Fruit Dove Buderim SF
One male calling above the boardwalk. Heard before it was light, it took me 2 hours to find it! Also heard Rose-crowned Fruit Dove.

Fri 18 Feb Bush-hen Fitzgibbon Bushland
Single Bush-hen seen by Cathy and I, less than 60 metres from busy Telegraph Road, Bracken Ridge . We flushed the bird at a little creek crossing near the entrance to the Fitzgibbon Bushland where we survey regularly. It stayed hidden in the long grass and undergrowth for a a bout 30 seconds but kept making a clicking noise. After 5 minutes or so it moved around and eventually emerged into more open area and gave us really good observations. It appeared agitated as though it wanted to get back to young so we left soon after.

Black-necked Stork Bishop's Marsh near Toorbul
A pair of Black-necked Storks present at the small swamp near Volz Road just west of Toorbul. Looks like being a good year for BNS in SEQ.

Powerful Owl Spectacle Garden, Roma St Parklands, Brisbane
A large young looking specimen perched in the "poplars" adjacent the small fountain pool in the Spectacle Garden at 12.30 pm today. It had bright adult plumage [distinct chevrons visible to the naked eye] and was unsettled by the attentions of the lurking Butcherbirds. First time I have seen a PO adjacent to the Brisbane CBD. I pointed the bird out to the volunteers in the info booth. I suspect the bird will probably move on tonight.

Sun 13 Feb Superb Fruit-Dove Buderim Forest Park
