I don't have full details, but there is mention on the ABC radio news today that 20 WGPs died in a fire that burnt down their enclosure. I assume these are the birds that have been captured over the past two seasons for captive breeding. Don't know if it was a general wildfire, or a fire in the establishment. DEC hasn't had a good result for WGPs in the past few years. A controlled burn early last year got out of control in Cape Arid NP and burnt out a large part of the WGP habitat that the controlled burn was meant to help protect. _________________________________________________________________ Frank O'Connor Birding WA http://birdingwa.iinet.net.auPhone : (08) 9386 5694 Email : =============================== To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) to: http://birding-aus.org =============================== |
