My sincere thanks to birding-aus and you good folk who have put me right in the matter of White-out/Liquid Paper. I now have several 'solutions' to try. And it seems that I owe the manufacturers an apology: the thinners was withdrawn from sale because of the carcinogenic effect of its essential ingredient. (And I might add by way of explanation, that my octogenarian internet-incompetence is such that I've never attempted Google.) Again thanks.
