See the article: Ray Leggett & Peter F. Woodall (1987) 'Hybrid
Scaly-breasted X Rainbow Lorikeets', Australian Bird Watcher 12(4):
122-126 for a lot of detail about these hybrids.

This bird was in a flock of at least 10 Rainbow Lorikeets with a single
Scaly-breasted Lorikeet in Coast Banksias along Beach Road at Ricketts
Point, Beaumaris in Victoria this afternoon. It appears to be a hybrid
between Rainbow and Scaly-breasted: dull blue head but yellow scaly
plumage on breast and back.

Any ideas appreciated.

See blog at

Also, any opinions on the tern - Arctic or Common?

Thanks, Ian
