In Oct/Nov '08 we hired for just over $2000 a Troop Carrier from Britz Maui
and drove up to Iron Range. It was self contained with all the camping gear,
water etc we needed. No problems with the vehicle and they were OK with us
driving from Cairns to Iron Range or beyond if I had been able to talk my
mate into it.

Hi all,
I am in the very initial stages of organising a trip to Iron Range next
year. Unfortunately it is going to be a fly and drive trip (rather than a
nice long trip through inland NSW and Qld as I have done previously).
Therefore, I am interested in finding out about anyone's experiences with
hiring 4WD in Cairns - what companies are available, the sort of prices and
what sort of vehicles they have (really any sort of info would be good).
Therefore, if anyone can send me any info it would be greatly appreciated -
possibly easier off list and I can send on details to anyone that is
interested.
