hi All,
just back from visiting hubby's family in Brazil and squeezing in a bit of
birding here and there too...first time I've been back since getting more
interested in birds so the life list has exploded.
Apart from hooking up with a few local birders, the website WikiAves:
http://www.wikiaves.com.br made a huge difference for me. It is a joy to
explore - so many good quality photos, and an amazing accomplishment for a
country where birding is relatively new. It is so well organised and I like the
fact that people can send in their photos and recordings and you can create
birdlists by location. For anyone who is planning a trip to Brazil, this site
is a must - and it's ranked no. 2 on Fat Birder's Top 1000 (for those who care
about such things). Only drawback for non-Portuguese speakers is that the
English version appears to only have English headings but the content is in
Portuguese, though I'm sure this will change eventually...
I wish there was an equivalent for Australia. What are the best Aussie sites
for bird photos?
cheers,
Arwen
