Large numbers (c.1,000) of shearwaters seen late morning today off Caloundra
Headland (Wickham Point). Birds were flying and resting between reef and tall
red & white navigational pole due east of headland. Long way out, but using
scope believe them to be Fluttering Shearwater, given numbers, time of year,
flight characteristics.Last seen heading south towards Bribie Is.
Also seen in Passage at Pelican Waters, flying Osprey with large mullet
being harassed by two Whistling Kite and a Black Kite. Osprey lost the battle
and the only winner was the mullet who made an ungainly return to the water.
