We are pleased to announce the launch of a new birding organisation
within the Illawarra region. The club is registered as Illawarra
Birders Inc.

The aim of Illawarra Birders Inc. is to encourage the study and
enjoyment of birds and promote conservation and field research.

Illawarra Birders Inc will:

* Encourage beginners in bird watching through assistance in the
field and at indoor meetings.
* Support and assist conservation projects through active
cooperation with local, State and national organisations.
* Promote individual and cooperative field research.
* Study and record birds within the Illawarra region and support
the publication of reliable and systematic information.
* Establish close links with other birding organisations.
* Undertake any other birding related activities at the discretion
of the Committee.

To launch this new group a programme of monthly field meetings has been
planned and will start on 12 June with a walk at Killalea. Field
meetings will be predominately targeted at specific species, bird types
or habitats and all sightings records will be contributed to local,
state or national surveys. Whether you are expert or beginner the focus
will be on a shared experience that is both instructive and enjoyable.

The Committee is also committed to the development of a regular indoor
meeting schedule that will include lectures by knowledgeable presenters.
Membership of Illawarra Birders Inc. will offer, field and indoor
meetings, recent sightings, current birding updates and the opportunity
to advance your birding skills and knowledge through contact with like
