Dear Birders, On 23 April a friend found a newly dead Noisy Pitta in the garden of their block of apartments in the inner Sydney suburb of Balmain. At my request he popped it into his freezer and I delivered it today to Walter Boles the Australian Museum. The literature suggests that there have been a few previous records of Noisy Pitta as far south as the Illawarra area but they are certainly very rare vagrants in Sydney.
