Birdline NT

Published sightings for the week ending 11 Apr 2010.

Wed 7 Apr Common Redshank Buffalo Creek
This morning (while looking for Chestnut Rail) I found a single Common
Redshank. It's legs were clearly orange-red and so was the base of it's
bill, with a lightly streaked breast. I watched as it walked quickly
away up the creek to the right, stopping to probe every now and then,
before again quickly walking/running. It was then that I saw the rail,
less than 10 metres away on the right side of the ramp. It was briefly
probing the mud before returning to the mangroves. The water was about 2
metres away from the mangroves.

heading SE @ 4.15pm (44). Channel-billed Cuckoo: heard.
