I think it was only around 15kms sth of New Cal. A New Zealand Storm-Petrel was seen on the Western Pacific Odyssey on 8 April 2008 south of New Caledonia but I'm pretty sure that it was north of Australia's Norfolk Island waters. Brent Stephenson reminded a discussion group of this in an email which I will forward. The two records this weekend fit nicely with that one as indicating a northward movement at this time of year.
