It seems that many similar events have occured to birdwatchers over the
years and I'll certainly get a bumper sticker and I like the suggestion by
David Taylor. In the US they have one saying "Caution: Birdwatchers stop
frequently" but I always felt that was no excuse if someone ran up the back
of your car because you planted the brakes when you saw a bird.
About 15 years ago, I was with Polly Cutcliffe at Wacol on the western side of Brisbane near the Prison Farm when we were questioned by a guard from the prison who had observed with us with our binoculars looking in the bush across the road. However he accepted our explanation and even started telling us about a baby bird he had rescued that morning by putting it back in its nest.
