Hi all,
An immature Brown Booby was recorded yesterday by Dale Tonkinson at Bastion
Point, Mallacoota (Vic). It was flying amongst Australasian Gannet 100-200 m
offshore. See http://www.eremaea.com/BirdlineRecentSightings.aspx?Birdline=6 .
Brown Booby is a vagrant species to Victoria, I can find only 3 previous
records. In 2000 a bird was photographed by Pauline and Arthur Spurgeon at
Rotamah Island (15/01/2000). Prior to that there is a record of an injured bird
found on Altona beach (27/05/1965), and a bird seen at Point Lonsdale, and then
later at Point Nepean (01/07/1973).
Cheers,
Tim Dolby
