Hi are planning a trip to Winton/Opalton areas late April - so long as cyclone Ilui does not flood all the roads too badly! Target (wishful thinking) birds are Rufous-crowned Emuwren, Halls Babbler, Black Honeyeater, Pied Honeyeater, White-winged Fairy wren, Chestnut-breasted Quail-thrush. Toss in Major Mitchell Cockatoo and Bourkes Parrot to complete the dreaming! What are the best places to see these birds keeping in mind we will be travelling from the Atherton Tablelands and have limited time. Is Bladensburg NP the best bet for these birds, or Opalton, or even further south to Lochern NP? Appreciate any advice.
