S/W Qld's current rain for March - 248mm. Wettest on record for March - 310mm. When? 1956. What event took place in 1956?

Steve - The year of tropical cyclones reaching S Qld – 4 over S Qld from Dec 1955 until mid March 1956 - hasn't been an event like it since I believe.

From the BOM site -

  1. Unnamed TC from 6-16 December 1955 reaching the SE Qld coast
     around Brisbane
  2. Unnamed TC from 6-12 Feb 1956, came in NE Qld through central Qld
and to SE Qld and NE NSW
  3. Unnamed TC from 14-18 Feb 1956 came in about Bundaberg, over SE
     Qld and NE NSW
  4. TC Agnes – 23 Feb – 11 Mar 1956 – came in about Townsville,
through central Qld to the SW

I was at school in Warwick (SE Qld), overlooking the Condamine River, one of major streams forming the headwaters of the Murray-Darling system. Seemed to be continually in flood for months.
