Just back from a week based in Mollymook, near Ulladulla, on the NSW
south coast.
Limited birding opportunities but did visit some nice locations.
Warden Head (25/1) had rufous fantail, variegated fairy-wren, etc
Mt Kingiman (25/1) in Morton NP produced a beautiful firetail, brown
cuckoo-dove, pilotbirds, crescent honeyeaters, etc.
Large parts of Meroo NP (27/1) are recovering from bushfire. Did hear
plenty of scarlet honeyeaters by Termeil Beach. Across the highway at
Lemon Tree Ck in Termeil SF more scarlet honeyeaters plus an
antechinus, bassian thrush, etc.
Buff-banded rails were easy to spot along the shore of Burrill Lake
(27/1) and at Dolphin Pt there was a reef egret and 22 red-capped
plovers.
Lake Tabourie (28/1) produced a pair of azure kingfishers fishing from
the jetty near the lake mouth.
A visit to Narrawallee Creek NR (29/1) revealed white-cheeked
honeyeater, scarlet honeyeater again, variegated fairy-wren, black-
faced monarch, etc.
A pod of bottle-nosed dolphins off Mollymook beach was a bonus.
Cheers
Marnix
