Hi all,
The two BAWA excursions to Lake McLarty this summer were planned for 30th
January and 7th March. However, as some of you may know, Lake McLarty is now
dry so we have organised alternate walks for the two dates for those who are
interested. Details are below. Note that both start half an hour later than the
walks at McLarty were scheduled for as I will wait at Lake McLarty to redirect
anybody who hasn't heard about the changes.
Saturday January 30th - Austin Bay area of Peel Inlet
Meet at 8.00am 100m along from the Greenlands Rd West exit, off the new
Perth-Bunbury Hwy. We will drive on to a place where we can walk to the eastern
shores of Peel Inlet to look for waterbirds and waders. Rubber boots are likely
to be needed. Someone will be at Lake McLarty for those people who travel
there and direct them to the new venue.

Sunday March 7th - South Yunderup, Peel Inlet
Lake McLarty is likely to be dry, so the venue for this walk has been changed.
Meet at 8:00 am at the south end of Wellya Cresant (near the playground), South
Yunderup. From Pinjarra Road turn into South Yunderup Road. Turn left into
Murray Waters Boulevard and follow this around until it turns north and the
estuary, park and playground are visible on the left. We will look for
waterbirds and waders on the estuary. There will be mud and possibly some
wading involved so wear rubber boots if possible. Bring your telescopes and
lunch as we will finish at about lunch time. Someone will be at Lake McLarty
for those people who travel there and direct them to the new venue.
